  About Us:

Meet Dr. Caitlin!

Dr. Caitlin grew up in Newport News, Virginia and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2003 with a bachelor of science in biology. She went on to attend Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Dentistry, graduating in 2007.
Throughout dental school, Dr. Caitlin volunteered with Virginia's Mission of Mercy, helping to provide dental care to the underserved population of Virginia. She also had the opportunity to travel to Jamaica, doing dentistry for local patients who couldn't afford treatment. This sparked her interest in public health dentistry, particularly in areas with limited access to care.
In Dr. Caitlin’s third year of dental school, an externship in Barrow allowed her to visit Alaska while simultaneously helping one of the most underserved populations in the US. During her externship, Dr. Caitlin was able to travel via bush plane to the small village of Atqasuk to provide dental care as well. After this experience Dr. Caitlin knew that she wanted to pursue public health dentistry in Alaska.
Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Caitlin was offered a position as a staff dentist at the Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital in Barrow, Alaska. She went on to fulfill a two year obligation in Barrow, all the while serving the villages of Atqasuk and Nuiqsut, accessible only by bush plane.
Dr. Caitlin enjoyed her time in Barrow. She did not own a car, but instead had a 4-wheeler which was a lot of fun to get around in. During the long winters she would often walk or cross-country ski to work (unless there were Polar Bears roaming around town!). She was often heard on the local radio station, KBRW, talking about oral health or seen at Ipalook Elementary School providing weekly fluoride treatments to the children.
Outreach and involvement with the school system sparked Dr. Caitlin's interest in working more and more with children. She decided to complete additional training to become a pediatric dentist, attending a two year pediatric residency at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. During this time she came to love Anchorage, and decided to make it her home, along with her husband Brandon and their daughters Ilsa and Brynn.
Dr. Caitlin still participates in community outreach, most recently providing dental care during the 2016 Alaska Mission of Mercy.
Upon completion of her residency program in 2011, Dr. Caitlin worked in private practice here in Anchorage as an associate pediatric dentist. Over the past five years it has become her dream to start her own practice. She is now very pleased to announce the opening of Aurora Children's Dentistry!
